Iteration has produced landmark research in support of "Bridging the Gap: Assistive AI for Literacy". This research activity equips marginalised, literacy-challenged adults to read social-welfare documents, evaluate information critically, and access public services independently using AI on their own mobile devices.
On-the-Ground Research & Delivery
Bernie Goldbach delivered the research package on the ground, conducting hands-on pilot training with community partners in Tipperary:
- Community Pilot: Training delivered to 17 Family Resource Centre (FRC) trainers and 14 adult participants at Knockanrawley FRC in 2025.
- Open Educational Resources: All presentation decks released under Creative Commons license.
- Interactive Media & Evaluation: Developed six interactive H5P books and six explainer videos, formally reviewed by Tipperary ETB and MSLETB (Goldbach, 2026b).
Horizon Europe Pillar II Alignment
This research directly serves Horizon Europe Cluster 2 (Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Society) aims by:
- Protecting democratic governance through digital inclusion and media literacy.
- Countering online disinformation by empowering vulnerable citizens to verify official information sources independently.
- Widening civic participation and ensuring equal, barrier-free access to public welfare services.
Future Vision: Erasmus+ KA210-ADU (2027)
Building on these outcomes, Adult Literacy for Life is targeted to expand into an Erasmus KA210-ADU programme in mid-2027, framed around creative-media training for adult learners.
The research centres on "Common Values & Civic Engagement"—promoting media literacy against disinformation, fostering active democratic participation, and establishing replicable European framework models for assistive community technologies.
